Transitioning to GREEN energy

How do we transition to GREEN (=ZERO net carbon emission) energy?

Historically, KMS equipment has been used mostly for geothermal applications. To a small extend for hydrocarbon exploration but mostly KMS has focused on reservoir monitoring. KMS' first patents are in this area and all technology is populating the 3D cube to better understand the reservoir.

How does that relate to GREEN?

Since we cannot quickly run fossil fuels to zero, we ha to transition: i.e. reduce carbon emissions. The best way to do this is via improving the recovery factor. Reservoir Monitoring improves the recovery factor by 20-40% which mean less Carbon Emission.

SO: Using geophysics (electromagnetics is key in this) to improve the recovery factor reduces carbon foot print. IN ADDITION, you can drive the EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) by injecting CO2 and so you are taking green house gas out of the atmosphere. This is known as EOR+ process.

Below, we see that most carbon emission are from upstream activities. Improving recovery factor translates immediately to lower carbon emission per barrel.

upstream

THIS IS THE REASON why KMS emphasizes the link to the borehole in terms of acquisition, hardware and interpretation.
